Have you ever heard the saying Sleep Better Live Better? What do you know about sleep and how it affects your health? Quality sleep is vital to an individual’s overall health and wellness. Now, older and wiser, I know there are not enough hours in a day between work, family and community obligations. But don’t sacrifice your sleep! Lack of sleep is linked to various health problems, including heart disease, obesity, and diabetes.

Improve your sleep while losing weight

Your body is unable to properly regulate your hormone levels if you don’t get enough sleep. This may cause and increased appetite and food cravings. Lack of sleep can also affect the way your body processes glucose which may cause diabetes. This may also lead to difficulty with your weight management and unwanted weight gain. You need to get deep, restful sleep each night to experience “sleep better live better”.

Lack of sleep increases the risk of strokes and heart attacks. In additon, sleep deprivation can lead to heart disease by causing high blood pressure and hardening of the arteries. When you don’t get enough sleep, your body is unable to properly regulate hormone levels. This can lead to an increase in appetite and cravings for unhealthy foods. In addition, lack of sleep can also affect how your body processes glucose, which can lead to diabetes. It is important to get enough deep sleep if you are trying to lose weight or maintain a healthy weight.

Fall Asleep and Stay Asleep Longer

If you have trouble falling to sleep, there are things you can do to help yourself. Make sure your bedroom is dark and quiet. When possible, stick to a regular sleep schedule. Avoid caffeine or alcohol near bedtime. Move the electronics from your bedroom to another room, so you are not tempted to stay up working or browsing the internet. Remember that getting enough sleep is important to your health.

Your body repairs and rebuilds muscle tissue when you sleep. Your body will work harder to repair muscle while you sleep if you add resistance training to your routine.
